The U.S. Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Homeland Security (DHS) released guidance on allocating and targeting pandemic influenza vaccine. The guidance provides a planning framework to help state, tribal, local and community leaders ensure that vaccine allocation and use will reduce the impact of a pandemic on public health.

General Doug O'Dell, federal coordinator for Gulf Coast Rebuilding, today spoke at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana quarterly luncheon where he discussed federal efforts to improve levees, help rebuild housing, improve criminal justice, and expand work force development. O'Dell also thanked the Hispanic community for their continued contributions to the region's recovery.

General Doug O’Dell, federal coordinator for Gulf Coast Rebuilding, today hosted a roundtable discussion and press availability with over 40 federal, state, and local inspectors general and law enforcement officials on efforts to combat fraud and crime in post-Katrina New Orleans. The discussion served to further collaboration among all federal and state inspectors general, the New Orleans inspector general, and law enforcement officials on recovery issues related to fraud prevention, public corruption, and law enforcement.

The U.S. Departments of State and Homeland Security today announced that the new U.S. Passport Card is in full production and is now being distributed. The Passport Card is a convenient, wallet-sized document for land and sea travel between the United States and Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, and Bermuda.
